If we can manage to refrain from harming others in our everyday actions and words, we can start to give more serious attention to actively doing good, and this can be a source of great joy and inner confidence. We can benefit others through our actions by being warm and generous toward them, by being charitable, and by helping those in need.

Spectrum of Time by Peter Erskine is a permanent rainbow sundial calendar installation. Hour and month lines painted on the walls and floor of the 40’ X 40’ X 40’ industrial museum space mark the hours, summer and winter solstices, and the spring and autumn equinoxes with astronomical accuracy. A 30’ X 30’ cross of solar spectrum light powered by the rotation and tilt of the earth tells the time and date. On cloudy days a laser pointer driven by a solar tracking program fills in for the rainbow.

It’s the future. You should probably be letting robots mow your lawn.

The John Deere Tango E5 not only operates in all weather, it also doesn’t make that loud, annoying “lawnmower sound” or require any emptying of grass clippings. It also returns to its charger when its battery gets low, won’t open the pod bay doors.

The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary
